Get to know Melissa

I was raised in a family that didn’t shy away from dessert. As I grew up, my sweet tooth grew as well. From my Grandmothers Chocolate Mousse Lady Finger Cake to her Christmas Struffoli, I wasn’t a stranger to a good dish of sweets, made from scratch. Watching the members of my family put love into their dishes allowed me to take on that very quality. Long before Sweetie Pies, baking has always been a hobby of mine. As a full time Hair Colorist and Yoga Instructor, I never thought I would add on another job title until one day I decided to take a very unexpected leap. After moving back home with my parents at the age of 30, I had the idea to start selling my homemade pop tarts. Living under my parents roof at the time, they weren’t too keen to the idea so I never followed through. After a few months, I decided I was going to go ahead anyway in hopes no one would notice I was baking more than usual. Eventually, my parents noticed what was going on and with much observation, saw that this was growing into something wonderful. I am now the official owner of Sweetie Pies with much support from those around me.
